Vecinos Unidos mission is to assist residents of West Dallas in developing quality neighborhoods that address the housing and economic needs of the area, by collaborating with public and private entities, to develop housing and small businesses that enhance, attract and support social and public services.

Ongoing Programs

  • Vecinos has a Real Estate/Affordable Housing Plan, a goal to revitalize a neighborhood in West Dallas by acquiring and constructing a minimum of 50 single-family homes for first time home buyers who fall under 80% of the HUD Area Median Income. We are preparing to build on 5 In-fill lots and we are seeking funds to provide infrastructure improvements for a proposed development site that could see construction of 24 single-family homes.
  • Home Ownership Counseling is provided by trained, bi-lingual counselors to provide guidance to families seeking to purchase a home; this is a free service
  • Home Ownership Education is a 6-hour class (minimum) provided one time a month (targeting the Hispanic community) by trained, bi-lingual counselors; this is a free service

Ways to get involved

  • Volunteer needed with real estate, mortgage, insurance, etc. background to assist with the Education Class and Counseling Program
  • Volunteer needed with engineering, architectural and financing background to assist with the proposed development program
  • Grant writing experience
